How Is Theft by Employees Prevented?

A considerable part of the thefts in hypermarkets are carried out by their own employees. According to the statistics, male personnel between the ages of 18-25 and with less than 1 year of experience have a higher tendency in this direction. And what do you think about the percentage of personnel stealing from your company? Missing persons and fugitives are considerably higher than what you think. In the incidents reported in the retail sector, personnel theft is around 30-35% of all incidents.

Well, what is stolen? There are losses of money, information, goods, consumables. With many activities such as contractual product returns, label changes, deliberately making materials defective, throwing them in the garbage and taking them out of the garbage, using discounts of customers, not issuing invoices and seizing the cash, taking cash from the customer and making installments to his/her own credit card, retaining the customer reward points, etc., the companies are losing approximately 1-2% of their annual turnover.

The most rapid solution will be a very well planned camera system (CCTV). This will resolve most of the thefts. If you place your cameras in a way that will not leave any blind spots at the facility and will capture at least 66 PPM in common areas and 250 PPM at the main entrance door by making pixel calculations, there will be a substantial decrease in internal and external thefts.

You also need an access control system integrated with your camera system. With card readers, you can track the mobility of all your personnel within the facility depending on time. If you use RFID tags on all your products, not just personnel, you can automatically track them and get alerts when they are taken out of the facility. The access control system will specify which labeled product and the camera system will provide the opportunity to monitor the moment of the case and all actions in its history. In addition, since unauthorized personnel cannot open every door, valuable products will be protected more.

Go Beyond Conventional Camera Systems with RFID-CCTV Integration

Apart from this, you can integrate all cash actions with the camera system with the central POS integration. Thus, all shopping actions become controllable visually and in written form. Moreover, there is such advanced software that it can monitor tens of thousands of cameras and vaults simultaneously. Any abnormal mobility or returns above certain figures can be monitored with a single button and possible thefts can be caught and deterrent effects can be used.
