In parallel with the developing technology, users' expectations from electronic security systems are increasing day by day. Investors want to increase the effects of the systems they will use on human life along with their basic functions. One of the most important parts of today's electronic security systems is that the systems planned to be installed or currently operating provide the employer with accurate information in terms of both business continuity and workers’ health.

The continuous increase in the expectations makes it indispensable for manufacturers to constantly develop their products, as well as for integrators and implementing companies that follow technology and aim to provide the most accurate solution to their customers in order to develop a versatile perspective during the design stage.

Effects of the Safety Systems on Occupational Health and Safety

The fact that the information produced by the security systems can be recorded and reported increases their effectiveness on occupational health. It is aimed to prevent possible occupational diseases with measures to be taken by health teams by evaluating the ergonomic movements of the employees related to the works as well as following the workflow from a camera system established for the purpose of protecting the site. With the data obtained from the camera systems, it can be determined whether the people involved in the accident work in accordance with the workplace instructions, whether the safety measures are disabled, and whether they are involved in unauthorized/untrained processes.

With the access control systems, in addition to preventing unauthorized passages, which have a primary duty, in case of emergency (earthquake, fire, natural disaster, etc.), the locked doors are opened and correct evacuation and directions are conducted. It can be ensured that the personnel remaining in the area required to be evacuated are identified and rapid responses can be carried out in order to save human life.

In fire detection and warning systems, monitoring of ambient conditions with different detector and sensor types, being informed of flammable/suffocating gases before reaching a level that will cause harm to human life, detecting possible fires without experiencing smoke and flames that are not yet visible to the eye, as well as early warning of the employees in the environment can be provided, and the occurrence of unfavorable situations can be prevented.

Analysis of Data Received from the Security Systems

The electronic security systems are the most important assistant of the Occupational Health and Safety Experts in the processes such as preventing occupational diseases that may occur over time, shortening response times, increasing occupational and workers’ comfort, especially human health and life safety by analyzing the data obtained.

As the impact of electronic systems on production processes increases within the scope of Industry 4.0 (4th Industrial Revolution), the need for analyzable data of Occupational Health and Safety Specialists will increase. When designing new systems, it will be inevitable to analyze the physical and environmental safety risks as well as the Occupational Health and Safety risks.
