Allianz Technical Earthquake & Fire Testing and Training Center

TAU Allianz Teknik, Istanbul

Allianz Technical Earthquake & Fire Testing and Training Center, the first accredited earthquake and fire center in Turkey, located in the Turkish-German University Campus in Beykoz, Istanbul, opened in 2019. The facility was actualized with an investment of 30 million TL and has 1400m2 of indoor space on a 2500m2 plot.

Allianz Technical, established with the goal of increasing awareness regarding earthquakes and fires, consists of an accredited earthquake laboratory, an earthquake training hall, a conference hall with earthquake simulations, a fire simulation room (EDOK), spray rooms (sprinkler system activation room), a fire training hall, a pump room for fires, a smoke escape simulation room, and clean fire simulation and accredited fire response laboratory sections.

The Role of EEC

In the Allianz Technical project, Siemens Cerberus Pro Fire Detection and Alarm System, Bosch Plena Emergency Announcement and Public Address System, Hanwha IP CCTV System and Siemens SiPass Access Control System solutions were used. The engineering, supplying materials and commissioning of the systems were finished within 6 months for this project.

Moreover, the demo training materials including the addressable fire panel, flame, temperature, and smoke detectors, warning buttons, audible-visual alarms, and wiring for the monitoring and control modules for the fire simulation areas and fire training hall were supplied by us with the support of our supplier partner, Siemens Turkey.

Technical Approach

The system for the Allianz Technical building was designed in accordance with EN54 standards. It involves a Graphics Monitoring Computer and Graphics Monitoring Software. Thanks to this software, the fire detection system is integrated with the other systems. The fire alarm system includes approximately 240 addressed detectors, buttons, modules, and the control panels to control them. Additionally, gas leak detectors and audible-visual alarms were used.

In accordance with the needs of the facility, a custom mimic panel was produced, and monitoring of scenarios triggered by the activities in the test room was made possible via this panel.

The Access Control and Security Systems consist of twenty-two card readers. In the building, there are numerous card access points equipped with reader units, and any unauthorized entry into areas or rooms can be prevented thanks to these reader units. Additionally, the magnetic contacts placed in order to detect any unauthorized access in the system center can also be monitored via this system.

Twenty-six IP cameras are linked to the CCTV system to ensure building security by monitoring critical areas such as building entrances/exits, corridors, and perimeter security. All cameras connected to the system are recorded via a recorder (NVR). Security officials monitor the system 24/7.

Also the Access Control and CCTV systems have been integrated via the Siemens SiPass software, allowing monitoring of the alarms from a single screen.

Emergency Announcement and Public Address System works integrated with the Fire Alarm System for evacuating and warning people in emergencies. There are more than 15 speakers in the system.
