Kartal Carpet started its production operations and international trade in 1985. The company, which operates in a total indoor area of ​​50.000 sqm, is a key producer in its sector. It produces parts and wall-to-wall carpets made out of raw materials such as P.P, BCF, Heat-Set, Frize, Shaggy, acrylic and viscose. The annual carpet production capacity of the company is 10.000.000 sqm. Its P.P. yarn production capacity reaches 13.000 tons per year.

Role of EEC

EEC provided Fire Alarm and Emergency Announcement System solutions in the Kartal Carpet Gaziantep Factory project. In the solution offered, all applications were implemented by taking the requirements of the facility and the characteristics arising from the process into consideration.

Technical Approach

The SECURITON SecuriFire Fire Detection and Alarm System constitutes the main framework of the Fire Alarm System. There are SecuriFire's advanced multi-criteria detectors within the facility. Active aspirating smoke detectors, beam type smoke detectors, cable type temperature sensors used for special areas operate in an integrated structure with the system as a part of the fire alarm system.

In the areas of the facility where the ceiling height is high, the ambient conditions are tough and smoke detection is impossible with the conventional methods; 33 active aspirating smoke detectors were used.

OSID (Open-Area Smoke Imaging Detection) products developed by Xtralis were used in the high ceiling areas of the facility.

OSID eliminates the risk of false alarms by separating smoke and dust particles, and achieves this with the UV/IR dual wavelength beam type detection technology. It also prevents adjustment disorders that may occur due to the movements of the building. Thanks to these technological benefits of OSID, steady operation of the fire alarm system has been ensured. There are 44 OSIDs within the facility.

Smoke detection was applied at different points of the facility by using 16 FFE Fireray beam type smoke detectors.

In the areas of the facility where smoke detection is impossible, Protectowire digital temperature detection cables were used and integrated into the fire detection system.

By using the SECURITON's UMS graphic monitoring software, it is possible to monitor and track all fire alarm system equipment that has been processed on the CAD plans of the facility.

In the Emergency Announcement System solution, EN54-certified Bosch products were chosen. In the system that was designed in line with the evacuation zones, evacuation messages are automatically transmitted to the relevant zones according to the fire scenario. There are also announcement units in the system hub where announcements can be made to each zone.

In the areas of the facility where the sound level is high; the flasher sirens that have high volume (120db@1m) were used. In the other locations where the sound level is normal, there are EN54-certified emergency announcement loudspeakers. Flashers were also used for visual warning.
