We talked with Nexans Turkey’s Maintenance Manager about his experience with EEC.

Our research has demonstrated that EEC is a reliable company with high customer satisfaction.

Our first contact with EEC took place at the WIN Fair at TUYAP approximately 4 to 5 years ago. We knew the name of the company before, but we did not have the opportunity to cooperate. I did not conduct an in-depth search then. We were planning to buy a new fire detection system. That is the point when I received the first briefing from EEC.

As we are an international company, we have to comply with certain standards. When selecting the fire detection system company that we would like to cooperate with, we had to do a good search in accordance with these standards. EEC is a company that complies with the FM, one of our most serious standards. We did not have any hesitation at the beginning, because our research has demonstrated that EEC is a reliable company with high customer satisfaction. Subsequently, we have observed that using a product that complies with high-level standards allows us to pass through the approval of the insurance or audit companies without any problems.

Our trust was not in vain during the project phase, either; in the beginning, EEC teams came and conducted a survey, presented the project details, did a feasibility study and made certain suggestions to us. The specialized teams made suggestions to us such as: “For some areas, this system is suitable, let's use a flame detector here, instead of an aspirating system”, and explained the reasons to us. It was enough for us too.

The influence of your team in the field during implementation was more positive than we had expected. While the system was installed, we almost did not stop our production activities at all, and the safety of the site was not compromised. Maintenance services are still continued in the same way. The team that arrives at our facility for periodic checks is extremely knowledgeable and specialized. When we make an appointment, they come and do all inspections and checks in a very short time, without even making us feel them.

We were told how long the project would take. After obtaining our approval for the date at the time of starting the application, they arrived at the site and the job was delivered on the agreed date. We did not have any problems during the working time.

Fire detection and extinguishing systems are like a fire extinguisher in a vehicle. You have to use it once and if it does not work at that moment, it is a big problem.

Our purpose is to detect fire as soon as possible without causing any damage to the items. The most important benefit of the system installed by EEC is its compliance with this purpose. We have observed in our trials and tests done without realizing it that the system operates reliably. The tests that we do without realizing it are the quick identification by the detectors of heat-producing activities such as welding works. When the detectors detect smoke, they report it directly as a zone. When we go and check it, we see it and say: “This was accurate detection and timing was fast.” At the same time, if you do work that generates smoke in an area, you can isolate that area for a certain time and reactivate it after your work is finished. Fire detection and extinguishing systems are like a fire extinguisher in a vehicle. You have to use it once and if it does not work at that moment, it is a big problem. It is enough for us that there have been no problems so far and it is operating smoothly.

The flexible structure of the system compatible with Industry 4.0 is one of the most useful and superior properties.

The system has a very flexible structure. You can play with it like a Lego. For example, in case of detection, you can open the doors according to the scenario or disable elevators in your building or direct the camera to the area where the alarm has been triggered, or in case of detection in an area, you can ensure preliminary control by triggering an alarm only in security area or only in certain units according to your scenario, before the alarm sounds in the entire factory. It is quite easy to manage. We do not have all of these properties, but we know that if we want to make an investment in the future or enhance the existing measures in security, we have the necessary infrastructure to do so.

We can upgrade and shape the system whenever and however we want it. This is one of the most useful and superior properties for us. When we want to add new units, we can add them. When location changes are made in the existing structure - which occur at our facility from time to time- we can adapt these changes into the system easily and without too much investment or additional costs. It seems to me that it has a structure that is compatible with Industry 4.0, which is very popular these days, or as if they have already provided it completely. It is easy to control and its Siemens infrastructure is extremely robust.

I recommend the products and services of EEC because they are reliable, smooth and high quality.

I recommend the products and services of EEC because they are reliable, smooth and high quality. We have never had any doubts about the quality. The products meet our expectations almost 100%.

Managers should ask themselves the question “What if a fire breaks out in our enterprise and we fail to notice it?”

Unfortunately, fire is an extremely harmful phenomenon that no company would want, and that may terminate the existence of companies. In our sector, when a fire breaks out in the areas where there are flammable materials, it can spread rapidly and it is not easy to extinguish it. We do not even want to think about the consequences of such an incident. For this reason, fire detection systems and extinguishing systems are extremely important. Managers should ask themselves the question “What if a fire breaks out in our enterprise and we fail to notice it?”. They can probably guess the consequences. In fact, they should even ask themselves the question: “What would we do if a fire broke out in our most dangerous and the most critical area?”.
