Systems and Products

When normal lighting is interrupted in buildings, emergency lighting systems are automatically activated to provide an adequate level of lighting for the minimum amount of time specified. The reasons for a light failure may be due to a failure of the main voltage or a fault in the system, or a fire, earthquake, sabotage and so on. When the safety of lives of those in the building is jeopardized in these kinds of emergency situations, in order to ensure a quick and safe evacuation of the building, an emergency lighting system, designed in accordance with standards, must be present. All lighting control devices and products used in these systems must also be certified and in accordance with standards.

We design and install emergency lighting and evacuation systems in accordance with regulations and standards that allow people to reach safe areas without falling, injury, panic or blocking escape routes in a main voltage failure emergency situation.

Emergency Lighting Systems Products

An emergency lighting system might be mandatory depending on your building’s class and number of users

In Turkey, Regulations for Fire Protection of Buildings first published in 2002 and most recently renewed in 2009, requires that most buildings have emergency lighting systems. If your building conforms to one of the following specifications, emergency lighting must be present:

  • Hospitals and homes for the elderly
  • Education buildings
  • All buildings with more than 200 users
  • Buildings with 50 or more users below ground level
  • Buildings with no windows
  • Hotels, motels and dormitories
  • Hazardous locations
  • High-rise buildings

It is required that you test your emergency lighting system on a regular basis and have the test reports on hand.

Depending on the properties of your system, there are daily, monthly and annual tests that should be done. These tests are intended to see that all devices that make up the emergency lighting system are in operation and those that need maintenance are addressed. Test results and service reports must be organized and maintained to be shown when requested by local government officials.

Your building's class, size and number of users determines the emergency lighting system we will be recommending to you

Basically there are two types of emergency lighting systems.

In central battery emergency lighting systems, emergency lighting and routing luminaires are fed and monitored from a central battery accumulator. During normal lighting conditions these systems check and report on the status of lighting fixtures and lines that feed these fixtures, report failures and allow us to keep the emergency lighting systems constantly in operation. There are central battery emergency lighting systems that can report on fixture and line malfunctions on a line basis or with individual addresses. When central battery systems are used, tests required by standards are made by the central battery unit, which automatically reports defective fixtures, so it’s not necessary to test each fixture manually.

Independent self-powered emergency lighting and routing fixtures have their own battery, charging circuit, line voltage inspector and lamp driver circuit. The simplest types of self-contained luminaires can report only the most basic failures by switching off their healthy status lights. To test them, they need to be switched to test mode by hand, and if they are working, their status needs to be checked at the end of the test period. Some more advanced self-contained emergency luminaires can self-test and report the results on their indicators. There are also central monitoring and inspection systems that can automatically monitor and periodically test and report on self-contained emergency luminaires with the help of addressable test modules.

As the number of emergency luminaires that should be used in your system increases, central battery type systems become more advantageous because of their low installation and operating costs. The fewer the luminaries, the more self-contained type is preferred. Regulation for Fire Protection of Buildings also introduces some limitations on central battery system applications in first and second degree seismic zones.

We design and install every type of emergency lighting system

We design and install the central battery type or self-powered independent emergency luminaires and routing systems mentioned above in accordance with international and local standards and regulations. All the products we use in these systems are certified to conform to European and Turkish Standards, and upon request we also undertake the periodic maintenance of these systems.
